God Has A Plan For Your Life!

by | Apr 26, 2023 | Bold in Faith, Bold in Life, The SundayMonday Tuesday Archives

I took about four months off of social media this year, starting in Mid-December and ending about a week ago. I’m not going to lie: it was fantastic. There were many benefits, but I think the biggest one was that it kept my eyes on my own paper.

I think that it’s pretty impossible to find contentment where we are if we’re constantly looking left and right and comparing our lives with the experiences of those around us. And I think the sneakiest (and most efficient) trick of the Enemy is to blind us to the wild and abundant gifts of our lives and focus on the one (or two) little things that we long for, that distract us from the call God has for us right now.

God has good plans for your life. He has good plans for my life. He has a perspective and a vision that is so much grander than any we could ever imagine or comprehend. But in this world of five-year plans and grasping for control, it can be so dang difficult to remember and believe wholeheartedly that the Father has us.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

I don’t know what you’re longing or praying for or waiting on, but I want to encourage you that God is working in your life right here, right now. His plans are so much better than ours, because He knows us and loves us better than we love ourselves. When we pause to thank God for the gifts that are present to us right now, we uncover the peace and joy that He promises us.

“What prevents us from receiving more abundant graces from God may be quite simply our not being sufficiently grateful and not thanking him for the graces he has already given us. There is no doubt that if we thank God with all our heart for each grace received, especially for the inspirations [of the Holy Spirit], he will grant us more.”
 — Fr. Jacques Philippe

Please pray for me to receive this truth more completely in my own heart, and know of my prayers for you!

In Christ,

Jane

What we’re loving lately:

Birthday Parties

  • I spent the past few months writing a murder mystery scavenger hunt at the Met right here in Manhattan, and on Saturday night I gathered a few dozen of my friends to run around the museum and solve the murder! It was one of the coolest nights of my life, and I absolutely loved getting to create a special experience for the people who have loved me (and continue to love me) so well this year. As a bonus, I sent them all to my favorite statue of Mary and baby Jesus 😉 Here’s a pic of our group at the end of the night!

Promises by Maverick City Music

  • Ugh I absolutely love love love this song, and a friend reminded me of it this week. Holy cow. Enjoy here! “I put my faith in Jesus / my anchor to the ground / my hope and firm foundation / He’ll never let me down”

Will you Wrestle with God?

  • “When God makes us wrestle him for some blessing(s), it is not because God is reluctant to bless us, even if that’s how it first feels. It is because he has more blessings for us in the wrestling than without it.” I love this reflection on Jacob’s wrestling with God. What a grace to be reminded that our desire to trust God does indeed please Him, and it’s all part of our journey to holiness. Read the whole article here.

It’s almost graduation time!!
