We hear so often to remember and rest in the promises of God… but what exactly are those promises? In today’s episode, I’m sharing seven promises of God for us all to receive into our hearts. He is good, His plans are good, and He will never be outdone in generosity!

  • He promises to help us carry our burdens: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Matthew 11
  • He promises to work all things for our good. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28 NLT)
  • He promises to restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us. The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ [Jesus] will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little. 1 Peter 5:10
  • He promises to show us his goodness in this life.  I remain confident of this:  I will see the goodness of the Lord,    in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
  • He promises to hear us in prayer. So they took away the stone. And Jesus raised his eyes and said, “Father,* I thank you for hearing me. I know that you always hear me; but because of the crowd here I have said this, that they may believe that you sent me.” John 11:41-42
  • He promises to take care of everything: “This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?” Matthew 6
  • He promises us salvation. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God [1] ; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14:1-4

A few years ago, my good friend Bridget and I were having a conversation about sin, and she said something that has stayed with me since: "All sin is simply a result of us grasping at a good thing that we don't trust God wants to give us freely." Oof. I have seen...
