This Is The Day
Happy Easter friends!! We have made it through the Lenten season, into a time of great celebration, joy, and feasting. I hope you had a blessed Easter Sunday with the people you love!
A common refrain in this Easter season is Psalm 118:24: This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.
I love this refrain because it is so true. This, right here, right now, is the day the Lord has made! With all of its goodness, longing, pain, joy, anxiety, happiness, love, and hope. This moment, this day, right here has been made lovingly by the Lord, for us. Could there be any greater gift or any surer proof of His love?
The first thing I do every morning is sit down with a cup of coffee and pray. Something that’s been coming up a lot for me recently is that God goes ahead of us every single day to prepare the way for us. Nothing happens to us without His consent, and He’s holding us, always, in the palm of His hand.
So when that unexpected call comes, or a friend reaches out, or the Holy Spirit prompts us to take action – all of these things are allowed by His hand! We don’t have to worry or grasp for control or wonder what comes next. He will show us the next step, as long as we stay near to Him.
This Easter season, I pray that you might join me in trusting that God shows us the next step always and that He has good, good plans for us: today, tomorrow, this month, this year, and for our lives. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad!
In Christ,
Jane

Stay. Watch. Pray. w/ Fr Mike
I loved this video from Fr. Mike, encouraging us to treat prayer as the great encounter with the Lord that it is, and to live “as present as possible.” I watched it at least four times this week.
Good Friday reflection
We’ve all heard the story of the crucifixion hundreds of times, so why was it not until this year that I truly realized how alone Jesus was on the cross? All of His friends (besides the Marys and John the apostle) abandoned Him, including all the people He had worked miracles for!! Woah. What a place to return to whenever we’re feeling lonely… Jesus has been there! And what a place to return in prayer to be with Him, to be a friend to Him and love Him in those moments.
Pickleball
Y’all, do not sleep on pickleball. On Easter Sunday, after a glorious mass and brunch, some friends and I met up for a game of pickleball and spent almost two hours on the courts. As a not-super-duper-hand-eye-coordinated person, I’ve never found a sport I’ve enjoyed more!! Looking forward to many more games as we move into the summer!
DC Kite festival!
This Saturday, DC hosted the annual Cherry Blossom Kite Festival and it was SO much fun!! Hundreds of kites were up in the sky around the Washington Monument. I love these little moments that remind me how much I love living here!
Prayer requests
- For a friend who got married last week
- For a friend who is expecting
